Growing up, I was always a big reader, loved the book fairs at school, and always held bookstores and libraries close to my heart. Library cards were my free plane tickets, allowing to travel all over the world, to different time-periods and lands, experiencing things through different eyes all in the comfort of where I decided to sit down and read. When attending college, my studies became priority, putting reading, and art for that matter, to the back burner. This carried on past graduation and into adulthood where it took the pandemic to try to find myself again, albeit a process that is ever-going.
This year, I challenged myself to start truly reading again. Not just the random single book that seemed to be popular of the moment, but actually make it a regular action. (I am hoping I can do this with my art as well, start small, perhaps with daily doodles or paintings, reading is just a little easier to start). With that, I have dusted off my Goodreads account and have started a reading challenge. Even if just one person finds joy in these posts (ie probably just my future self haha), I am excited to record my literary experience and potentially make new friends while doing so.
