2024 Skincare Routine

(*All products mentioned were self-purchased)

I have seen my fair share of trends when it comes to skin care practices and products. I am not a doctor nor a licensed professional, just someone who has a passion for taking care of my skin.

A little skin health background: Over my life, I have experienced various skin situations, mild/hormonal acne, eczema, dermatitis… to name a few. With these conditions I have been to various dermatologists and estheticians, having taken in some tips and tricks over time. Plus with the internet, there is so much information (albeit too much information) where learning is a constant. (always do your research, don’t ever base an opinion or fact on just one source!) Anyway… on to the products.

As mentioned before, with the conditions I have experienced, I go with a less-is-more mentality. As much as I would love to test all the products there are and I would love to go completely cruelty-free, I want to avoid irritation (yes in small part because of esthetic but more-so to prevent painful eczema and dermatitis episodes – a story perhaps for another time) and keep my skin moisturized. As for price-points, I try to have a mix, ideally affordable but there are some expensive products. So here we go, in order of use:

2024 Skincare Routine

  1. (if I wear makeup) True Botanicals Ginger Turmeric Cleansing Balm
  2. La Roche-Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Cleanser
  3. Toner (I use two: Mondays and Thursdays the e.l.f. Cosmetics Supertone A Toner** and the rest of the days: Thayers Milky Hydrating Face Toner with Snow Mushroom)
  4. La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water
  5. The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5
  6. True Botanicals Chebula Active Serum
  7. Moisturizer (Morning: La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer UV; Night: True Botanicals Chebula Extreme Cream)

Generally I wash my face one to two times a day. I typically work out in the morning, which then I wash my face in the shower and apply the respective products after, using an SPF at the end. If I put on makeup, at the end of the day, I will wash again, otherwise, I skip that second wash. The exfoliating toner I use max twice a week. If I know I will need to wash a second time on exfoliating days, I will save that product for night use.

** After some research, I cannot seem to find e.l.f. Supertone online! Has it been discontinued?!? Ah. C’est la vie (of the beauty world). Will have to do a little recon and find a replacement.
